Abstract

COSTA, Helisângela Ramos da. The mathematical modeling through scientific concepts. Ciênc. cogn. [online]. 2009, vol.14, n.3, pp. 114-133. ISSN 1806-5821.

This article aims to present a proposal that uses mathematical modeling to promote a meaningful learning of mathematical concepts of limits and continuity from scientific concepts. For this reason, the proposal is based on the principles defended by the Mathematics Education by the National Curriculum Parameters and the constructivist approach to Ausubel. The scientific theme chosen to develop the problem situations, and thus explore the mathematical concepts, it was the Law of Transformation of gases Charles Gay-Lussac. The situations problem developed provide building capacity as observation, analysis, interpretation and validation of data. Moreover, it is able to promote a stimulating environment for scientific and technological education mobilizing the creative potential of students. Thus, it is believed that the proposal allows the student to use mathematical modeling as a tool to understand the mathematical concepts and solving problem in various fields

Keywords : mathematical modeling; meaningful learning; scientific concepts.
