The text analyzes aspects of teacher communication with the use of media in public schools. The paper presents the results of a research with teachers of public schools of the Brazilian cities of Joaçaba, Herval d'Oeste and Luzerna. It describes a possible teacher training at takes into consideration the importance of adapting the strategies to the human, structural and cultural peculiarities. The intention of the training is to provide the teacher with the possibility of: a) reflecting about of the use of media in the school; b) developing instrumental abilities for the use of the Information and Communication Technologies. © Cien.
