ZEDU ALLIPRANDINI, Paula Mariza; WROBEL STRAUB, Sandra Luzia; BRUGNERA, Elisangela  and  DE OLIVEIRA, Tânia Pitombo. The memory process in young people: the effect of use of computer. Ciênc. cogn. [online]. 2010, vol.15, n.2, pp. 21-30. ISSN 1806-5821.

Abstract The objective of this research was to investigate the effect of computer use on the memory process in participants from 11 to 14 years old. The memory condition involved the acquisition of information and remembering phases in the time intervals (2 min., 24 hours and 1 week) in situations of pre-and post-test (before and after participants had attended the basic computing course). In this condition, participants studied the map of Brazil for 7 minutes and estimates of the different areas of the States of Brazil were made in accordance with the method of estimation of magnitudes, without the presence of the map. In the perceptual condition, estimates have been made in the presence of a map of Brazil. Following the use of an analysis of variance, the results revealed significant differences between the experimental conditions, and that the experimental perceptual condition was differentiated from other conditions. The analysis of one week memory condition showed significant differences between the pre-test and post-test situation. These data could contribute in the educational area, in the sense that it enables the educator to know how the student processes and archives information, thus encouraging the use of a computer as a pedagogical tool for the improvement of the teaching-learning process. © Cien.
