MACEDO, Luciel Silva et al. The value of cortical stimulation in the attention deficit disorder in students with Down syndrome. Ciênc. cogn. [online]. 2010, vol.15, n.3, pp. 13-22. ISSN 1806-5821.

This study aims to demonstrate the value of a cortical stimulation therapy specifically designed to students with Down syndrome presenting attention deficit disorder, age 17-21, both sexes. The working approach was developed by means of an experimental research, and the methodological strategy was accomplished by the application of a pre-test as well as a post-test on mental processing skills which evaluate the reaction time (RT) to a given stimulus. Meanwhile ,the procedure was applied during one month by means of. a forty-minute session. of cortical stimulation therapy a day. The results showed a significant improvement in the reaction time (p=0,0207). confirming the positive influence of the cortical stimulation therapy on the attention deficit disorder in students with Down syndrome. © Cien.
