Abstract The aim of this paper is to present the concerns about how the knowledge is constructed and represented by the blind. The perception of the writer is a seer, and thus further the search for some answers and/or new questions. The research aims to reflect on the use of mediation, especially the method of the fourth excluded in the process of building concepts on all levels, from the simplest to the most abstract, in people who have visual impairments (total blindness or low vision) and start a discussion about the meaning of mental representation and visual perception, both for sighted and for the visually impaired. Search itself, with the continuity of work, extend the search to a larger group of visually impaired, providing a more constant dialogue enabling the observation of the daily life of these people, the difficulties, the skills developed and the perception of the world. © Cien.
