Abstract

ALVES FARINHA, Corina; SALES SENRA, Cláudia Maria  and  ORLANDO DA SILVA, Fabio Wellington. Learning styles in engineering manager education. Ciênc. cogn. [online]. 2012, vol.17, n.1, pp. 58-72. ISSN 1806-5821.

This work studies the application of a project method for teaching the subject management in engineering, with a focus on training engineers managers. It is particularly analysed the relation between the internal dynamics of teams that developed the projects and the learning styles of its members. Overall, the students showed great interest in the subject and worked hard in implementing the projects. The working groups were formed spontaneously by the students. Contrary to initial hypothesis, students were grouped not be looking for teams with similar learning styles, i.e., homogeneous groups, but they all had a distribution of different learning styles. As regards to the internal organization of groups, the leader position was not always occupied by extrovert/active persons, as we can suppose a priori, but it happens that the leadership was introvert or reflective. © Cien.
