LEOPOLDINO DA SILVA, Antonio Waldimir et al. Situation awareness in transdisciplinary teams. Ciênc. cogn. [online]. 2012, vol.17, n.2, pp. 115-134. ISSN 1806-5821.

The situation awareness (SA) is a central element in decision making, both individual and collective. It is constructed from a personal analysis about an instant reality, in a cyclical and continuous process, and it brings itself intrinsic factors of the agent, as her/his worldview. This theoretical study aims to verify how the SA occurs in transdisciplinary teams, that is, those formed by scientists and social actors (lay people). The study was done by means of a bibliographical research on the "state of the art" of the matter in question. It was verified that the team SA appears to be greater than the simple sum of the individual SAs of its members, and there is a fraction that is distributed and other fraction is shared, being this one most important, because it is a common vision between two or more members. In transdisciplinary teams, SAs are probably very different between these two groups, and this fact can bring negative impact to the quality or outcome of the work. It is presented a representation model of SA in transdisciplinary groups, as well as it is suggested measures that can approximate the SA of the persons in a team. © Cien.
