Abstract

LEITE, José Carlos  and  LEITE, Eudes Fernandes. Formal knowledge and local knowledge: similarities and asymmetries. Ciênc. cogn. [online]. 2012, vol.17, n.2, pp. 135-154. ISSN 1806-5821.

This paper seeks to discuss similarities and asymmetries related to the formal knowledge and the local (traditional) knowledge. It is suspected that the asymmetry between the referred knowledge occurs in the diffusion process, and not at the time of its creation. If occurring at the later one, there would be a convergence between the formal and the local knowledge. Another suspicion is that the preponderant rule in the occurrence of asymmetries or border demarcation would be afforded by the physical and social environment, through the drift processes that characterize the scattering of all creation. The novel of this text is that its results arise not only from a literature review, or from a merely speculative reasoning about the relationship between loca. and formal knowledge, but also builds on the authors' experiences, field observations, as well as monitored and controlled trials. © Cien.
