Abstract

SCALI, Danyelle Freitas  and  RONZANI, Telmo Mota. Personal expectations and beliefs about alcohol use. SMAD, Rev. Eletrônica Saúde Mental Álcool Drog. (Ed. port.) [online]. 2007, vol.3, n.1, pp. 00-00. ISSN 1806-6976.

The Inventory of Expectations and Personal Beliefs concerning Alcohol considers that drinking standards become heavier when people endorse more positive expectations about the positive effects of alcohol. This study aimed to evaluate beliefs about alcohol in alcoholics from the Institute of Mental Health, as well as to evaluate the performance of the IECPA in the identification of alcoholics. This research seems to have confirmed this trend. It was observed that, the higher the expectations and the more positive the beliefs about alcohol, the higher the alcohol consumption among respondents from the dependent group.
