It is an integrative review of literature that aimed review scientific productions about nursing consultation on mental health in health services in the period 2001to 2013 in the databases Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) and Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences ( LILACS). It was found that 60% of the researched articles indicated that nurses have limitations to make the diagnosis of mental health nursing. It was concluded that the nursing consultation and its relationship in the mental health field still incipient. It is suggested that the nursing consultation be systematic and involves topics such as interpersonal relationship, nursing history, physical and mental examinations, diagnosis and planning in nursing.
