Abstract

This study aimed to characterize resilience in children and adolescents who were abused in childhood. 17 articles were found, between 2011 and 2015. According to the analyzed scientific literature, it found that childhood abuse have negative relationship with the development of resilience and positive with the emergence of depressive and anxiety symptoms, as well as, positive factors such as social and family support has positive relationship with resilience. It is concluded that the development of resilience in children and adolescents victims of abuse can act as a protective factor for these individuals.
