Abstract

LAUANE, Baroncelli. Career counselling in the Gestaltic approach: historical reflections for a substantiated praxis. IGT rede [online]. 2012, vol.9, n.16, pp. 86-98. ISSN 1807-2526.

The substantialization of the career counselling praxis and the reflections on its possibilities, limits and contradictions must be a continuing and ever deeper process. Considering that the historical aspect of the work of vocational guidance has fundamental implications to the counsellour’s praxis, we begin this article by reflecting on the historical origins of this work. Then, we discuss how the Gestalt approach, from its theoretical basis, can respond to the issues raised from the historical implications of the occupational counseling process, which we hope will contribute to the career counseling field as a whole.

Keywords : Career counseling; history; gestaltic approach.
