This paper intends to study, through a literature review, the influence of phenomenology in clinical practice of Gestalt therapy. For this was conducted an investigation of the proposed phenomenological, as conceived by Husserl, focusing on the context of its emergence (the crisis of Cartesian thought), the use of epoché as a method, and the particularity of consciousness as intentionality. Finally we made a study of clinical practice of the Gestalt-therapy as art of contact, identifying the self as a central concept for understanding the phenomenological method in the clinic, with the intention of making a break with the prevailing paradigm reductionist approaches in other psychotherapies, and as signaling the peculiarities of such a stance.
