The objective of this work is theoretically contribute to studies and practices related to the role of gestalt therapist with therapeutic groups , whose target audience are the mentally ill and to verify the contributions of using theater and image as therapeutic tools . Starting from the literature review , using texts with Gestalt basement ranters on mental health and therapeutic groups , coupled with practical and theoretical experience of the author in working with the mentally ill , in a theater workshop and image of I in CAPS Green coast of Rio de Janeiro . This text contextualizes the process of formation and development of this workshop , reserving a space for reflection on the emerging Gestalt concepts in it. The results indicate the use of theater and image as an experiment that shows up as a fertile field for major changes in the lives of participants and an interesting tool for social and family relationships of same . In addition to an invitation to the therapist to use their creative adjustment and expand their possibilities for action within the CAPS .
