Abstract

The present study was carried out from the junction of the Completion of Course Work (TCC) of undergraduate psychology course from the University of Vale do Itajaí (UNIVALI) and the elective Gestalt Therapy subject. In this subject, in one of its analysis, a topic should be chosen and discussed, considering the focus of the concepts of Gestalt therapy, preferably from a practical experience experienced during the graduation period. The theme chosen was the chemical dependency, and this topic will be reported and discussed based on the experience of one of the members of the Completion of Course Work, taking into consideration the vision of Gestalt therapy. This woman was in treatment for addiction to psychoactive substances (PS) in a Therapeutic Community (TC) exclusively for women. The terms worked were figure-ground, part-whole, awareness, creative adjustment and contact.
