Abstract

CEZAR, Adieliton Tavares  and  JUCA-VASCONCELOS, Helena Pinheiro. Differentiating sensations, feelings and emotions:: an articulation with the Gestalt approach.. IGT rede [online]. 2016, vol.13, n.24, pp. 04-14. ISSN 1807-2526.

Sensations, feelings and emotions are well-known words and used in everyday life. However, there is confusion about the concept, especially when it comes to feelings and emotions, where those terms are viewed as similar. Sometimes even among experts the concept can be confusing. The objective of this study was to provide a conceptual basis for the differentiation of sensations, feelings and emotions, performing a literature narrative review in books and scientific papers. We used the databases SciELO and SAGE. After differentiation of the constructs was discussed how these concepts can operate in Gestalt therapy in the clinical setting. It was observed the importance of these processes for clinical gestalt therapy, particularly with regard to expanding the awareness and dialogical relationship.

Keywords : sensation; feeling; emotion; Gestalt-therapy; awareness.
