This study deals with beliefs, fears and general expectations demonstrated by clients and psychologists regarding group psychotherapy. Such feelings and behaviors were observed by the contact with customers (mainly during the interview process of screening and referral and first sessions of group therapy) and with psychologists during periods of undergraduate and postgraduate occurred between the years 2004 to 2012. From the information obtained through bibliographic research and personal experience as student, psychologist and client of therapy group, we intend to contribute to expanding the discussion and understanding of the therapeutic group process.
