Abstract

The production of this work has the objective understand the self-injurious conduct, a behavior of self-inflicted violence starting of the perspective of Gestalt-therapy. This interconnection has the central objective to perceive the way that the gestaltica approach dealing with self-injurious practices and what is the role of the Gestalt-therapist in front this demand. Using bibliographic research for the collection of data the reflections are directed from the Gestalt perception of the body-person-world relationship and the particular form of Gestalt-therapy to consider a symptom as contextualized and of the subject how to be in the world. The work facilitated the reflection on the role of the Gestalt-therapist, who to this one is attentive to the perception of what the self-injury has to say about the subject who practices it. Although self-injurious behavior is widespread in social settings, there is still a shortage of production on this subject, especially in Brazilian research. Therefore, this work has in its essence the premise of contributing with new social and scientific looks to self- injurious conduct, pushing for the topic to stop being a taboo.
