MENDONCA, Bruna Improta de Oliveira  and  BRITO, Maria Alice Queiroz de. Mandalas as a therapeutic resource in Gestalt therapy practice. IGT rede [online]. 2017, vol.14, n.27, pp. 273-290. ISSN 1807-2526.

Since ancient cultures mandalas appear as a symbol of harmony, integration and transformation. Although being a resource used in psychotherapeutic practices, it is theoretically unfounded from the perspective of Gestalt therapy. Through a systematic review of the literature, this article aims to stablish a relationship between the use of this technique in clinical practice based on the theory of Gestalt-therapy. Specifically, it aims to review critically the literature, to foster a broader understanding of the theme in its therapeutic possibilities, to extend the theoretical understanding of these possibilities from the Gestalt therapy point of view. The metodology was a systematic review of the literature. The results shows  an extensive gap in the theoretical perspective mentioned above,, even though in psychotherapeutic practice, it is an instrument that facilitates the disclosure of the way its creator works, its awareness, the release of repressed content and crystallized gestalten, the integration of the liberated contents, the  revelation of the defense mechanisms and the way of operating in their relations with the other and with the world, and consequently providing the possibility of a more genuine and fluid contact.
