The development of psychological research in Paraguay has been limited and of low significant advance in its years as an independent scientific field at the universities. The superior educational centers did not achieve to incorporate in a productive way the behavioral research to their academic activities, therefore, the training of psychologists lacks its more important and dynamic element. This article pursuits the basic aim for outlining a critical analysis on this panorama, exploring the probable causes that generate and explain it. In order to fulfill this purpose, we will outline first the general characteristics of the problem, informing about the available literature and the different perspectives concerning this issue. Thereafter, the several problems faced on the teaching of the Methodology of Scientific Research and related fields are enumerated, and also an analysis of the influences that these problems have on the quality of psychological training is offered. This article closes both with a general discussion on the implications that this problems have for Psychology as a science, as well as some relevant recommendations.
