Abstract

OTTATI, Fernanda  and  NORONHA, Ana Paula Porto. Psychometric parameters of professional interest instruments. Estud. pesqui. psicol. [online]. 2003, vol.3, n.2, pp. 37-50. ISSN 1808-4281.

Psychological tests are one of the most typical techniques of evaluation that are characterized as an objective way and standardized sample of behavior. Many authors emphasize the importance of a better preparation of the professionals who use psychological tests; other authors say it is necessary that the instruments present psychometric qualities, only in this way its results will be reliable. This better quality suggests the tests must be based theoretically, undergo studies of standardization, and gauging of its validity and precision. The objective of the current study was to evaluate the quality of the evaluation instruments of interests published in Brazil. The manuals have been evaluated by a questionnaire of Spanish psychologists, that verifies the quality of the material, validity, precision, norms, among others aspects. The results are not very good, therefore they show that majority of the consulted instruments does not present studies about psychometrics parameters (validity and precision).

Keywords : Psychological tests; psychometric parameters; evaluation of professional interest.
