MARTINELLI, Suselaine Serejo; BARBATO, Silviane  y  MITJANS, Albertina Martinez. In the teaching, who dances?: A critical analysis of the creativity in dance in Distrito Federal. Estud. pesqui. psicol. [online]. 2003, vol.3, n.2, pp. 51-62. ISSN 1808-4281.

This study aims at critically analyzing the creativity in dance teaching in Distrito Federal, Brazil. The implications of this teaching over students development process are analised, specially with respect to their creative behaviour. From a historical-cultural perspective, dance teachers and students were interviewed and classes were filmed, videotaped and submitted to qualitative analyses. It was observed that there was a tendency to teach dance techniques in a traditional way, keeping it separated from creation and artistic expression which would only happen in specific classes or at stage. It was noted that creativity may be considered only when the artistic product is being conceived. The results indicated that the presence of creativity in the process of composition is as fundamental as performance (interpretation) of dances, appreciation, and that creativity should be part of the technical classes. The role of the dance teacher is fundamental in that process and some ways of working in classes are suggested.

Palabras clave : Creativity; dance teaching; body; subjectivity.
