MORI, Maria Elizabeth  e  COELHO, Vera Lucia Decnop. Life listened: psychological listening and middle-aged women's health. Estud. pesqui. psicol. [online]. 2003, vol.3, n.2, pp. 36-78. ISSN 1808-4281.

An empirical study was designed to evaluate the relevance of psychological listening to middle-aged women’s health. The general discomfort experienced in this moment represents the visible that dissimulates invisible questions of the personal history. The qualitative strategies of the study included: 1) survey of the health services destined to women at this age; 2) semi-structured interviews with health professionals; and 3) a psychological intervention in a public health service with women from low social income groups. The sharing of personal experiences, derived from the themes suggested by the participants, resulted on a rich experience that contributed to women’s well being. The health professionals indicated the interdisciplinary assistance. We suggest that health public politics should create opportunity to psychological assistance in order to increase women’s health.
