Abstract

The present work investigated of validity factorial evidence in the Mayer Salovey Caruso Emotional Intelligence Test (MSCEIT) and the reliability in the instrument. The construct definition, Emotional Intelligence assessed whereby test, has been described as the person's ability to accurately perceive, express, understand and use his or her own emotions and the emotions of others as well manager them in order to facilitate the cognitive process and to promote intellectual and personal growth. Participated 270 undergraduate students from Psychology, Physical Education, Mathematics and Biology courses. The material was MSCEIT and the collective data collection was in groups according to the courses. The results indicated MSCEIT factorial analyzes has been done and it allowed to verify the arrangement of two principal factors (Experential and Strategic). The reliability index of MSCEIT was considered as satisfactory (a = 0,92), with exception in the task Mistura (a = 0,545). The facts this research indicated validity factorial instrument, and reliability was satisfactory according to the demanded.
