Abstract

ROBINE, Jean-Marie. Does gestalt-therapy will be bold enough to develop its post-modern paradigm?. Estud. pesqui. psicol. [online]. 2005, vol.5, n.1, pp. 102-126. ISSN 1808-4281.

What I propose to explore here, under this somewhat mysterious title, are some of the lines of force and paradigms which run implicitly or explicitly through the theory of Gestalt-therapy, with the idea of drawing a certain number of consequences for clinical practice. I believe that if we can better understand these lines of force, we will be able to apply them better, and at the same time more easily understand the lines of fracture which divide those who promote Gestalt-Therapy. I also want to stress at the outset that I am not entirely happy to be relying on this term “post-modernism”, which is far too charged with a variety of connotations; but I will make use of it all the same for want of a better one, while trying to specify what I see as the shape and limits of the concept.

Keywords : Gestalt-Therapy; Post-Modernism; Field; self; Therapeutic relationship.
