Abstract

ALVIM, Mônica Botelho. Man and work in contemporary society : a critical view from Gestalt-Therapy. Estud. pesqui. psicol. [online]. 2006, vol.6, n.2, pp. 122-130. ISSN 1808-4281.

The present article proposes to argue some aspects about individuals’ involvement with their work and organizations nowadays. Making one brief historical reconstitution of the organizational field evolution, it attributes critical connotation to participationism in organizations, constructing relations between it and organizational commitment and organizational culture variables. It suggests that this management model results in control and discipline, by acting at the subtlest levels, promoting a kind of “management of the affects” (Selligman-Silva,1994). The goal is to homogenize behaviors and feelings towards organization. Taking a kind of sociological aspect in Fritz Perls’ work, it relates that phenomenon to introjection and retroflection - gestalt-therapy’s concepts. From this way, indicates a characteristic of the clinical work in gestalt-therapy, which invites people to an existence with presence, making possible a more constructive and pleasurable relationship with their work.

Keywords : Organizational commitment; Organizational culture; Participationism; Gestalt-Therapy; Introjection.
