We discuss community as praxis. The orally narrated life histories in common contribute to the comprehension and achievement of this praxis. We interest for people who are irreducible to capital and their narrations, the Mangueira community&#';s inhabitants. Connecting knowledge and practice, we use an instrument “Papo de Roda” (the life histories narrated in a circle) where old and young people are invited by Mangueira to take part of it. In this one, the force of a common, of experiences with their histories allow this transmission to happen, being in favour of an understanding of a work between generations as a community praxis. The action-research and many moments of a participating observation are our ways of researching community that are based on a comprehension established on a work in common. We approach the minority history, non-continued, which is done in other places, but not the official ones. With oral life histories, we have another instrument to the political praxis, using traces that answer the community&#';s contemporary demands.
