Abstract

ALVIM, Mônica Botelho. Aesthetic Experience and embodiedness: fragments of a dialogue between Gestalt-Therapy, Art and Phenomenology. Estud. pesqui. psicol. [online]. 2007, vol.7, n.1, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1808-4281.

In this article we discuss gestalt therapy relationship with aesthetics (Dufrenne, 2004), and embodiedness (Merleau-Ponty, 2000). Gestalt therapy emphasizes primarily and centrally the creative nature of the self. From this we consider existence as creation, establishing a dialogue with a work of art. Psychotherapy can be seen as a space of contemplation of the work, of disclosure of meanings and of senses instauration. Psychotherapy seeks to amplify the client's experience in the here-and-now of the therapeutic encounter to demonstrate that the individual, in interacting with the world, is acting creatively. Taking gestalt emphasis on form and configuration and its interest in aesthetic criteria, we open a dialogue between the therapist-client relationship and the viewer - work of art relationship. We consider the therapist experience an aesthetic experience a kind of perception that seeks the truth of the object as it is immediately given to the senses (Dufrenne 2004) and that has its roots on embodiedness.
