Abstract

This work sets out, from the analysis of the configurations of globalization and space in present days, to think the emmergence of practices of living in the city that make possible the living of another subjective experience from the starting point of these practices. The work focuses on the experience of a squat, occupied by homeless people in the city of Rio de Janeiro in the year 2004. The work treats the experience in the day-to-day of the squat, as a way of transiting between experiences that have created and recreated ways of living the urban space that escape the hegemonically preconized. For this purpouse, it was necessary to do some brief analysis: the popular housing at the end of the XIX century in the city of Rio, including the processes of removals occurred in the 1960s.
