Abstract

This work approaches the interpellation practiced by the urban space in the processes of subjective construction of the contemporary man, with special attention to situations related to rights to and use of ground. A short report is presented, comprehending the concepts of “social use of ground” in the country, public politics that have been introduced aiming at production of popular construction and agrarian regularization of the favelas, and of impressions from residents of favela da Rocinha - located in the city of Rio de Janeiro - in face of this process, currently ongoing in part of its area. The accounts of residents were obtained from fieldwork done in the scope of the research “Contemporary Urban Space and Subjectivity: a special focus on the favelas of Rio de Janeiro”, held at the Programa de Pós-Graduação em Psicologia Social, of UERJ, with the financial support of Prodoc/CAPES
