Abstract

FARIA, Luiz Roberto Paiva de  and  GUZZO, Raquel Souza Lobo. Time of globalization: social representation of labor, job and profession in adolescents. Estud. pesqui. psicol. [online]. 2007, vol.7, n.3, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1808-4281.

This work dedicated to explore the social representation that students from middle school have about Job, Work and Profession. Through a vocational guidance program qualitative baded, a set of six interviews was carried to 20 students, 10 from public school and 10 from private. The interview was developed in group and for one hour each and was tape recorded and a content analysis was made constructing a graphic representation for the results interpretation. The results suggested that the adolescents referred the categories according to the position they occupy inside the society. In this sense, they disregard objective conditions of the job market and made their choices based on subjective criteria like satisfaction with the activity or success in their career.

Keywords : Social representation; Work; Job; Profession; Professional vocational guidance.
