The results of some epidemiological  findings have shown a large number of youngsters consuming alcohol, tobacco and other drugs. Knowing that, there is a need to develop actions that will promote a group of psychosocial competencies, which are strategic preventing  the consumption of these substances. Aiming that, the World Heath Organization (WHO) suggests using the Model : Life Skills which is seen as a process of development of psychosocial competencies considered essential for the human development. In this perspective, the school institution have been pointed as a privileged stage for interventions of this nature. Thus, the objective of this article is to present the Model: Life Skills of preventive intervention and health promotion in the school, considering the implementation of pro active models that can contribute in a more effective way for the healthy development of children and adolescents.
