REZENDE, Teresa  and  SILVA, Rosana Marques da. The life quality at work of professionals in the area of nursing : a study following the theoretical model offered by Hackman  and Oldham. Estud. pesqui. psicol. [online]. 2008, vol.8, n.3, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1808-4281.

ABSTRACT This article is about Life Quality at Work (LQW) measured in the form of the satisfaction and the well-being of the workers. It is a research carried out with professionals in the area of nursing who work in a hospital in the Vale do Itajaí - SC, Brazil. The goals of the research were: to analyze, following the theoretical LQW model offered by Hackman and Oldham, how professionals perceive “Work Meaning” as they perform at work; to survey the competences required by the activities developed at work; to check whether the professionals perceive the results of the activities they perform and to investigate which are the contributions that their work bring to the organization. The qualitative approach was used, and the data collected was gathered by means of semi-structured interviews. The data were analyzed through content analysis. As results of this study it was verified that the majority of the professionals have no perspective of the process of work as a whole, represented, thus, as a fragmented work, in spite of the fact that they see their work as meaningful and relevant.
