Abstract

FUKS, Betty Bernardo. Violence and ethos of language: considerations about Psychoanalytic Theory of Religion. Estud. pesqui. psicol. [online]. 2010, vol.10, n.2, pp. 339-355. ISSN 1808-4281.

The modern civilization, the cradle of reason's advances, since World War I, begins to give evidence, in degree of refinement than cruelest periods of history, of an unconquerable part of human psyche. Such contradiction imposed to Freud led him to redraw the nodal points of his thinking on culture, including that of religion. Within these perspectives, the article aims to reflect on the paradoxes of the Psychoanalytic Theory of Religion.

Keywords : Violence; Cruelty; Politics; Religion; Language.
