Abstract

This research aimed to verify how different is the functioning of the item in Escala de Avaliação de Tendência à Agressividade, comparing young delinquents and people not known history of delinquency. The first group consisted of 41 young delinquents, while group two was composed of 42 university students who obtained the highest scores on the scale. First of all, the adjustment of the scale to the Rasch model was analyzed, and average of the infitand the outfit suggested good adjustment. The result of the analysis of the differential functioning of the item resulted in 24 items which were distinguished by their functioning between the two groups. So, 10 of them favored the first group and 14 the second one. One concludes that the exclusive aggressive behaviors of the delinquents had been of physical intimidation, intimidation and revenge, and group of colleges annoying people was prevalent.
