Abstract

ZANATTA, Jacir Alfonso  and  COSTA, Márcio Luis. Some reflections on qualitative research in the social sciences. Estud. pesqui. psicol. [online]. 2012, vol.12, n.2, pp. 344-359. ISSN 1808-4281.

This paper is a reflection on the various paths taken during the development of a specific research. This research sought to take into account ethical issues involved, Onto-Methodology procedures and discursive practices in communication, through making an inter-relation with qualitative methods and established scientific knowledge. It was observed that during the research on the culture of ethics, the Freely Informed Consent procedure emerged as a well used and accepted practice. In the assumed conflict between the various approaches, whether qualitative or quantitative, the fundamental issue is in the Onto-methodical conditions used to solve the research problem, namely, empirical and technical practices. Discursive practices were also beneficial when linked to communications which helped to solve the ontological questions and methodologies. This resulted in the emergence of a possibility of overcoming the quantitative versus qualitative dichotomies in the research of Social Sciences.
