Abstract

The present work had as objective to research, from the analysis in medical files of children and adolescents in the mental health service, the main characteristics that population with complaints related with learning difficulties and behaviors problems at school, with special attention to aspects related the diagnostic classification:  school forwarding, sex and age group. This research was realized in the health service in a city in the countryside of São Paulo, where were selected a random sample of the 121 medical files, in the age group between 6 to 15 years old, of female and male sex. The information shown that most of forwarding to the service, about 80%, have been diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder and Hyperactivity (ADHD).  The most of that population, 88%, were in the age group between 6 to 10 years old and 90% are male sex. It concludes that this diagnosis determination is linked to hygienist medicine that, currently, through biological and neurochemical speeches related to the medicalization device, intended to address some of the conflicts in educational spaces and discards any understanding of the diversity and plurality of human existence.
