SOUSA, Kelyane Oliveira de  and  BARROS, Lívia de Melo. Stress and coping strategies of health managers. Estud. pesqui. psicol. [online]. 2018, vol.18, n.2, pp. 496-515. ISSN 1808-4281.

The objective of the research was to identify the coping strategies used by the managers of health care programs in the Aracaju city. The qualitative approach was adopted, with a cross-sectional design and, for data collection, a socio-demographic questionnaire and narrative interviews were used. The analysis and interpretation of the data were carried out in light of the Discursive Textual Analysis. On the consequences of the stress experienced, the impacts were identified in the context of work and personal life. Regarding the coping strategies, it was verified the greater use of resources available in the personal scope than those directed to the origin of the problem. As a main proposal, the creation of a social skills program was proposed for health managers.

Keywords : coping; occupational stress; health manager.
