Abstract

CORDEIRO, Mariana Prioli  and  SPINK, Mary Jane Paris. Notes on the history of Social Psychology in Brazil. Estud. pesqui. psicol. [online]. 2018, vol.18, n.spe, pp. 1068-1086. ISSN 1808-4281.

In this article, we aim to present some of the theoretical approaches, research groups and institutions that that have been part of the vast (and diverse) field of Brazilian social psychology. With this in mind, we begin with the history of the subject as it is usually told, placing the "crisis of reference" of the 1970's as an important turning point and two important ideas which gain ground then: opposing forces to the positivistic model of science and the recognition of the need to develop critical approaches committed to social transformation. After that, we present some of the theoretical-methodological approaches developed after this moment of "crisis". More specifically, we will tackle the development of institutional analysis, social-historical psychology, social representation theory and constructionist perspectives.

Keywords : history of social psychology; institutional analysis; social representation theory; socio-historical psychology; constructionist perspectives.
