Contemporary feminist movements intend to change the inequalities between genders, which result in conservative and traditionalist reactions from social groups. The objective of this article was to understand family social representations for non-feminists. We conducted eleven interviews with self-declared non-feminist individuals, whose data were organized according to a thematic content analysis and analyzed from the Social Representations Central Core Theory. The main results highlight as possible representations cores: naturalization of the idea of nuclear family and conflicts between its members; prevalence of rigid and distinct roles between men and women; relevance of changes in women's roles in society and family without, however, effective changes in social relations; and threats to the men privileges. Understanding how these SR support specific social grouping practices is important in order to enable their confrontation in search of a less unequal society.
