Abstract

MEDEIROS, Lucélia Kelly Alencar de  and  MARTINS, Remerson Russel. Comparative Analysis of Studies on Subjective Well-being in Brazil: Epistemological, Methodological and Theoretical Aspects. Estud. pesqui. psicol. [online]. 2020, vol.20, n.3, pp. 953-975. ISSN 1808-4281.  http://dx.doi.org/10.12957/epp.2020.54359.

Through the concept of subjective well-being science has investigated happiness, testing theoretical models, raising empirical evidence and pointing a path to the scientific study of a phenomenon characterized by its subjectivity. The article aims to critically and comparatively analyze the epistemological and methodological dimensions adopted in the national research on subjective well-being, as well as to evaluate how this concept is defined and worked in these researches. For this purpose a systematic review of the literature was carried out in the Capes Periodic Portal, using the Portuguese language descriptor "subjective well-being". There was a predominance of research with a quantitative approach in an epistemological construction, valuing the objectivity of knowledge about subjective well-being. As well as methodological designs marked by the nomological exploration of theories and inductive-statistical interpretation of the results.

Keywords : subjective well-being; mental health; epistemology.
