Abstract

ALVES, Lucas de Oliveira; GUEDES, Marina Fernandes; BARROS, Vinicius da Rocha  and  SOUZA, Mériti de. Post-Structural Considerations about Subject, Time and Language(s) in the Movie Babel. Estud. pesqui. psicol. [online]. 2021, vol.21, n.2, pp. 454-473. ISSN 1808-4281.  http://dx.doi.org/10.12957/epp.2021.61051.

In the contemporary scenario, we find a hegemonic and idealized conception of language that defines itself as capable of representing reality and the subject, as well as capable of fully translating the subject and the other. We understand that the modern assumptions of identity, conscious subject, linear time, binarisms, among others, support this hegemonic conception of language. This article aims to perform an exercise of deconstruction of the idealized conception of language and its relations with the modes of subjectivity that operates from modern presuppositions. Therefore, this article aims to produce the deconstructive reading of some scenes from the movie Babel (2006), using the theoretical support of poststructuralists authors such as Foucault and Derrida. We use concepts such as discontinuous and event to work with the aporias of language and communication relating them to the presupposition of identity, conscious subject and linear time. It is understood that the language (s) is associated with difference, sliding of the senses and otherness.

Keywords : post-structuralism; language; event; discontinuous; subject.
