Abstract

SA, Samantha Dubugras; WERLANG, Blanca Susana Guevara  and  PARANHOS, Mariana Esteves. Crisis intervention. Rev. bras.ter. cogn. [online]. 2008, vol.4, n.1, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1808-5687.

Through a bibliographic review, this paper proposes the contextualization of emergency and catastrophe situations that cause crisis and traumas, highlighting the most suitable interventions for such cases. Crisis processes can result from natural disasters, from accidents, or even from situations directly caused by human beings, as in cases of interpersonal violence. In all of these situations, the person’s physical and/or emotional integrity is threatened. Crisis intervention is an aiding method recommended to help an individual and his/her family or group to face a traumatic event, easing negative effects, such as physical and psychological damages, enhancing the growth of new coping skills, as well as reinforcing life options and perspectives

Keywords : Emergency situations; Crisis; Crisis intervention.
