This article aims to discuss the presence of the Psychology professional in the area of Public Health which is becoming more common every day. It establishes suggestions based on experiences of work in a Public Mental Health Clinic in the interior of the State of Paraiba in Brazil. It will deal with the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as an instrument in the activities of this mental health unit. The positive results of these interventions prove that the Psychologist has an important role to play in the area of Public Health.
