This study aims to evaluate the use of the session transcription and the observation in one-sided mirror room as strategies for training and development of clinical competence in psychotherapy. Fifteen students participated in the final year clinical stage in cognitive-behavioral approach. In order to analyze the attendance on the first semester they recorded and transcribed the psychotherapy session, and on the second semester they watched their colleagues' intervention. For this, students evaluated the use of these resources and responses were categorized by themes. The transcript was initially perceived as a negative activity by students, but after the first analysis together in supervising this perception was changed to positive. The main advantages of this resource were the encouragement of self-criticism, the socratic dialogue, focus, choice of appropriate techniques and minimizing distortions of the therapist. The observation was considered a positive activity in both situations as an observer and as an observed with the time advantage in relation to the transcript. The main positive points were self-reflection of practice, the use of techniques and exchange of experience. It is considered that how to use these two resources has encouraged the development of therapeutic competence.
