This study aims to verify, through a literature review, the ways as Cognitive-Behavioral Group (CBGT) is applied, as well as adaptation and effectiveness of techniques and strategies to the TCC group treatment of Social Anxiety in adults. The selected studies occurred between 1993 and 2013, have focused on the research CBGT in the treatment of social anxiety and included review articles, clinical trials, comparative studies and case studies. The research investigated showed variation in the size and composition of CBGT for social phobia and confirmed for the most part, the effectiveness of treatment. However, few studies have addressed factors therapeutic group. Insufficient data reported as the particularities of CBGT regarding the interaction of group process and techniques of CBT limited understanding of the adaptation of CBT strategies for groups and points to a reduced recognition of CBGT as a specialty within the CBT and as its potential for comprehensive treatment of Social Anxiety.
