Tourette Syndrome is a neurodevelopmental disorder manifested through tics and stereotypies. This psychopathology affects the motor system generating irregular mannerisms that cause social, academic and labor losses to those who have this disease. Although many studies highlight the neurobiological causes of Tourette Syndrome case studies have shown that the actions of cognitive-behavioral therapy have shown effectiveness in decreasing the intensity and frequency of symptoms. In this article, the objective was to present effective clinical actions in the case of a patient diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome. The present case report describes the treatment of a 32-year-old woman, married, who mad 36 sessions of individual psychotherapy for the treatment of Tourette's syndrome. The DSM-5 criteria were used in the diagnostic evaluation. The treatment plan involved Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques such as psychoeducation, habit reversal training, exposure and response prevention, and Socratic questioning. There was a decrease in the frequency and intensity of symptoms - this was mentioned by the patient, relatives and observed in a therapeutic process.
