VIEGAS, Monique Placido; OLIVEIRA, Evlyn Rodrigues  e  FALCONE, Eliane Mary de Oliveira. Motivational, cognitive, emotional factors and effects related to volunteering. Rev. bras.ter. cogn. [online]. 2019, vol.15, n.1, pp. 66-74. ISSN 1808-5687.  http://dx.doi.org/10.5935/1808-5687.20190010.

Volunteer work is a planned prosocial behavior, which does not involve financial or material rewards and has been associated with social and personal well-being. The objective of this article is to present and discuss the motivational, cognitive, affective factors and the effects related to the practice of volunteering for those who perform it. Ten individuals of both genders were interviewed. All participants lived and volunteered in the State of Rio de Janeiro. The answers given to the interview questions were analyzed and categorized from the content analysis. The results show that most of the volunteers interviewed have motivations focused on the other, experience positive feelings and seem to amplify the behavior of help to other contexts. From this study it can be considered that voluntary work seems to have more positive effects than costs.
