MEDEIROS, Antônio Gabriel Araújo Pimentel de  e  HARTMANN JUNIOR, Jose Antonio Spencer. Acceptance and commitment therapy in the elderly: a systematic review. Rev. bras.ter. cogn. [online]. 2019, vol.15, n.2, pp. 112-119. ISSN 1808-5687.  http://dx.doi.org/10.5935/1808-5687.20190016.

The Aceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a clinical model for the third generation of Cognitive and Behavioural Therapy (CBT) that has been outstanding in the treatment of several disorders. For the elderly, who needs to deal with greater variance between losses and gains, ACT is presented as an alternative to provide contextualisation capacity through the acceptance of covert events. The purpose of this study was the realization of a systematic review in order to understand ACT interventions for the elderly. The SciELO, PubMed and LILACS databases were used with the combination "Acceptance and Commitment Therapy" and "Elderly", as well as their equivalents in english and spanish, were used for studies published in the last 10 years, with the research occurring in january 2019. Three manuscripts were included. The results point to indications of ACT efficacy in the elderly for depression and chronic pain, but the low number of studies found is underscored.
