Alcohol consumption among young people has become a standard in society and levels of drinking show that this risky behavior can lead to substance dependence. Understanding the relationship between Early Maladaptive Schemes and consumption can contribute to the development of preventive actions, as well as guide future empirical research. The aim is verify the findings related to the theme and to understand what correlations exist between the maladaptive Initial Schemes and alcohol consumption. Systematic review of articles from the last 10 years from the date of publication, using Scielo, PePSIC, LiLaCs and PubMED databases. Empirical research articles and a narrative review were included, and the selection criteria used were type of sample, instruments used and discussions relevant to the theme.There were few articles on the theme, mainly in Brazil. Observations on methodologies and limitations are commented in all articles, such as gender heterogeneity of participants, cross-sectional, sample characteristics regarding number and type (clinical or non-clinical) and the need for future research on the same theme, as well as the implications positive for the development of more effective treatments in the area.
